Our latest and final version (VF) of the Simple Swingweight System incorporates the best of previous versions and is easier to use. It still has a powder coated aluminum arm for rigidity with 3D printed ends and fulcrum mounting base. We’ve eliminated the Cam Loc from V3 and made a simple hook support to keep the club in place. The leveling foot is now a needle/knob just like our XL version. This makes the leveling process easier and the contact on the scale surface is as accurate as possible.
You’ll never find a more simple way to measure a golf clubs swingweight. Ball bearing supported fulcrum with a built in bubble level. The adjustable leg makes leveling the arm a snap. Once the fixture is set up, you can add or remove weight and see the resulting impact on the club’s swingweight in real time. Images are computer renderings. Uses one digital gram scale (not included).
Use a quality digital scale for the most accurate readings. Look for a scale with a solid surface on top. These scales have multiple load cells attached to the feet of the scale which makes these type of scales better at handling a concentrated load. Avoid the scales with an elevated top as they have a single load cell and do not handle concentrated, off center loads accurately.

Shipped fast, packed well, and arrived quickly. Honestly, I was surprised by how nicely made it is, and how much of an elegant, simple solution it is. I'm really glad I bought it.
If there's a criticism to make, it's that the measurement is very sensitive, especially to marking your 14" from the end and how it's lined up with the alignment spot on the device. (And, of course, how good your scale is, but quality digital scales are cheap, so don't skimp there.) It doesn't give the consistency and repeatability of a professional's device (I assume... I don't have one to compare!) but it's perfect for getting your swingweights close across your clubs, for making changes and assessing the difference in feel, etc. That is, objectively, I can't be sure my reading of a, say, D6 is going to be exactly the same as a D6 at a professional clubfitter, but it's good enough to compare and record changes to one of my clubs, and to get a set of irons roughly matching.
If I could offer one improvement, a template for marking clubs -- say, a rod made from the same material with a stop at one end and a slot to make marks 14" away -- would increase consistency and repeatability. I marked my bench with 14" from a wall, but a clever accessory that solved the problem would be slick.
Otherwise, yeah, this is a great purchase... especially if you change your own grips trying to find the Perfect One, shorten or lengthen your clubs, etc!
I am very pleased with my VF system. Very easy to setup and use, as accurate as the scale you choose. But just as important it is easily portable. I need something I can take with me as I assemble clubs in a few locations in the state for friends and family and I am always looking for ways to reduce the bulk of the tools I choose to take.
