Do I need to have Bluetooth ON or OFF?

The Pro-Touch scales have historically had BLE running in the background, waiting to connect to a thermal printer. We have recently decided to change the Bluetooth feature inside the Pro-Touch to be OFF by default. If you are attempting to use a thermal printer (PT-210), then you must manually turn on Bluetooth. Go to the "Unit Data" screen on the Pro-Touch 5 and press the Bluetooth icon to toggle between ON and OFF modes.

We recently discovered that the Pro-Touch 5 scales sometimes picked up on a Bluetooth printer signal and kept trying to connect. This would cause excessive delays between scale functions. 

All scales built after 4/15/2026 will have the Bluetooth OFF by default.
